My child has never played volleyball. Where should we start?

Does my child need to try out?

Beginner Academy programs do not require a tryout. More competitive programs or REP opportunities may have separate evaluation or tryout requirements.

How do I know which Woodbridge program is right for my athlete?

Consider your athlete’s grade, current experience, and goals. The Woodbridge page separates programs by grade and training type, or families can book a free 15-minute call with the Unity team for guidance.

What will athletes learn?

Depending on the program, training may include serving, passing, setting, hitting, movement, ball control, communication, teamwork, game understanding, and confidence.

What should athletes bring to training?

Athletes should wear comfortable athletic clothing, clean indoor court shoes, and bring a water bottle. Any additional requirements should be included in the registration confirmation.

Where are the Woodbridge programs held?

Woodbridge programs may use different facilities depending on the grade group, day, and program. The exact location is shown on the individual program or registration page.

Are all Woodbridge programs held at Woodbridge Sports Dome?

No. Some programs may train at Woodbridge Sports Dome while others use different Woodbridge facilities. Always check the specific program schedule before registering.

Can we choose which day our athlete attends?

For programs with multiple weekly schedule options, families select from the sessions available for their grade group when registering.

Can my athlete train more than once per week?

Unity offers different Academy options for families looking for more training. Academy Plus allows eligible athletes to attend two Academy sessions each week, while Academy Unlimited offers access to eligible grade-appropriate Academy sessions, subject to program rules and available space.

What is the difference between Academy Starter, Plus, and Unlimited?

Academy Starter provides one scheduled weekly training session. Academy Plus provides two eligible Academy sessions each week. Academy Unlimited offers the greatest training flexibility across eligible Academy sessions.

Can we try Unity before committing to a full program?

Yes. The Woodbridge page encourages families to explore available open gyms and serving clinics as a lower-risk way to meet the coaches and experience the Unity environment first.

Are the open gyms free?

Open gyms identified as free have no attendance fee, but advance registration may be required and space may be limited.

What happens at a free open gym?

What happens at a serving clinic?

Serving clinics provide more focused repetitions and coaching feedback designed to improve serving mechanics, consistency, accuracy, power, and confidence.

Can my athlete attend both an open gym and a serving clinic?

Yes, where both are available and the athlete meets the grade or age requirements. Each event may require its own registration.

Does Unity offer boys volleyball in Woodbridge?
