Does every Unity location offer the same programs?
Not always.
Grade groups, schedules, facilities, serving clinics, free open gyms, boys programs, and other training opportunities may differ by city.

What grade groups does Unity offer?
Unity programs are organized into the following main grade groups:
- Grades 1–3
- Grades 4–6
- Grades 7–8
Additional opportunities may include boys volleyball, serving clinics, free open gyms, Development programs, and REP volleyball.
My child has never played volleyball. Can they join?
Yes.
Unity offers beginner-friendly opportunities designed to introduce volleyball step by step.
Athletes can build coordination, confidence, fundamental skills, teamwork, and comfort on the court before moving into more advanced training.
Which program is best for a beginner?
Start with the program that matches your athlete’s current grade group:
Grades 1–3
A positive introduction focused on movement, coordination, basic volleyball skills, confidence, and fun.
Grades 4–6
Structured skill development focused on serving, passing, setting, hitting, teamwork, and game understanding.
Grades 7–8
More purposeful training designed to strengthen technical skills, consistency, serving confidence, and preparation for future school or club opportunities.
Does my athlete need to try out?
Beginner and Academy programs generally do not require a tryout.
Competitive programs such as REP volleyball may have separate tryout or evaluation requirements.

What will athletes learn?
Training varies by program and grade group, but athletes may work on:
- Serving
- Passing
- Setting
- Hitting

Where are Unity programs held?
Unity uses different facilities depending on the city, grade group, day, and program.

Can we choose which day our athlete trains?
Where multiple weekly sessions are available, families can choose from the eligible sessions offered for their athlete’s grade group.
Availability depends on the location, schedule, and remaining program capacity.
What is Academy Starter?
Academy Starter is designed for athletes who want one consistent scheduled Academy session each week.
Families choose an eligible weekly program based on grade group and available schedule.
What is Academy Plus?
Academy Plus is designed for athletes who want more training each week.
Eligible athletes can attend any two Academy sessions each week and train at Markham or Woodbridge.
Academy Plus is billed monthly and has a minimum three-month commitment.
What is Academy Unlimited?
Academy Unlimited provides the greatest flexibility for athletes who want more opportunities to train.
Eligible athletes can attend grade-appropriate Academy sessions across Markham and Woodbridge, subject to available space.
Academy Unlimited is billed monthly and has a minimum three-month commitment.
Can my athlete train at more than one location?
Some Academy membership options allow eligible athletes to train across Markham and Woodbridge.
The exact access depends on the selected membership, grade group, program schedule, and available space.
Can we experience Unity before registering for a full program?
Yes, where introductory opportunities are available.
Families can explore free open gyms, serving clinics, and other free events to meet coaches, get on the court, and experience the Unity environment.
Are Unity open gyms really free?
Yes, when an event is advertised as a free open gym there is no cost to attend.
Advance registration may still be required because court space can be limited.
What happens at a free open gym?
Free open gyms give athletes an opportunity to:
- Play volleyball
- Get more touches
- Meet other athletes
- Meet Unity coaches
- Experience the club environment
- Ask questions about available programs
The exact format may vary by event.
What happens at a serving clinic?
Serving clinics focus specifically on helping athletes develop one of the most important skills in volleyball.
Depending on the clinic, athletes may work on serving mechanics, footwork, toss consistency, contact, power, accuracy, consistency, and confidence behind the service line.
Can my athlete attend both an open gym and a serving clinic?
Yes, where both opportunities are available and the athlete meets the grade or eligibility requirements.
Each event may require a separate registration.
Does Unity offer boys volleyball?
Yes, Unity offers boys volleyball opportunities where available.

Is Unity only for competitive athletes?
No.
Unity provides pathways for athletes at different stages, including first-time players, beginner athletes, developing athletes, school-team preparation, Development training, and REP volleyball.
The goal is to help athletes find the training environment that matches their current experience and future goals.
What should my athlete bring to training?
Athletes should generally bring:
- Clean indoor court shoes
- Comfortable athletic clothing
- Water bottle
Any additional requirements should be included in the registration or confirmation information.
What happens after registration?
Families should receive program confirmation with information such as selected program, grade group, day and time, facility, arrival instructions, what to bring, and important program communication.
What if the program we want is not available at our nearest location?
Explore another nearby Unity location or speak with the Unity team.
They can help identify another schedule, grade-group program, clinic, open gym, or development pathway that may work for your family.
How do I know which Unity program is right for my athlete?
Consider your athlete’s grade, volleyball experience, confidence level, goals, desired weekly training frequency, preferred location, and available schedule.
