THORNHILL | GRADES 7–8
WINTER DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

PLAY WITH MORE CONTROL. COMPETE WITH MORE CONFIDENCE.

At Grades 7–8, volleyball starts to become faster, more tactical, and more demanding.

Unity’s Thornhill Winter program helps athletes improve the technical and game-awareness skills they need to stay composed, make better decisions, and contribute more effectively on the court.

WINTER DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM
DEVELOP THE COMPLETE PLAYER

THE GAME CHANGES. TRAINING SHOULD TOO.

As athletes get older, development becomes less about simply learning what a skill is and more about performing it with purpose.

TRAINING MAY FOCUS ON:
01

TECHNICAL CONSISTENCY

Repeat skills with better control, accuracy, and reliability.

02

SMARTER SERVING

Develop stronger placement, consistency, and confidence from the service line.

03

FIRST-CONTACT QUALITY

Improve passing and help create better offensive opportunities.

04

ATTACKING WITH PURPOSE

Work on timing, approach, control, and better attacking decisions.

05

DEFENSIVE AWARENESS

Recognize situations earlier and improve positioning and reactions.

06

GAME IQ

Understand what is happening around you and make better choices during play.

MORE THAN JUST TECHNIQUE

BECOME A PLAYER YOUR TEAM CAN RELY ON.

Skill matters.

But so does what happens between touches.

01 Can your athlete communicate?
02 Can they stay composed after a mistake?
03 Can they recognize where to move?
04 Can they adjust when the play changes?
05 Can they make a good decision under pressure?

Grades 7–8 is an important time to begin developing those habits.

The goal is to help athletes become players who are not only technically stronger — but also more aware, dependable, and confident.
